Oasis Utterson and Elliot Warlow endeavor to remake Dr. Jekyll’s formula and prove that it is safe in order to secure funding for their Institute of Lysology, an institute created by the late Jekyll and his husband, John Gabriel Utterson, to further the understanding of the soul.

Of course, no one is willing to be the test subject of such experimentation. So Elliot decides to test it on himself.

Elliot uncovers his past traumas through his soul and Oasis must balance Elliot’s life against the growth of her Institute.

    Short, creepy, and thought provoking

I absolutely recommend this book for the right reader. This was outside my normal genre but I tried it anyway and I’m glad I did! It was a quick read that I finished in a night and gave me a lot to think about in regard to addiction and consciousness. I was confused about quite a few aspects of the plot but maybe I was supposed to feel that way? And also I’ve never read Jekyll and Hyde and this book definitely assumes you already have. If you like dark academia horror this is for you.

    Exciting and strange!

I was a fan of this author since coming across their Web comic the cleft (also recommend).

I love the jeckyl and Hyde story so this was an easy sell for me. What's really cool is the author can take those elements and pieces of the original and make it a meaningful and new story that they tell with all their own fresh energy. This book manages to be fun, dark, exciting and strange. All things I'm into!

This is definitely my cup of tea!

    Amazing Retelling!!

Doppelganger provides a new spin to the classic Jekyll and Hyde concept. It really shows what it means to be human. There is love, tension, conflict, obsession, and addiction. I personally really enjoyed the relationship between Oasis and Elliot and would love to see what comes next for them. I also enjoyed the dynamic between Elliot and Fitz throughout the book. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more from the author.

    A short, but interesting read!

If I'm being honest, the scientific stuff regarding the dosages and their function were not explained clearly, but the drama kept me fully invested in the book. It was short enough that I finished it in one sitting.

Elliot and Oasis' relationship was very sweet and the little banter they had in between the scenes was adorable! I was not expecting the cliffhanger though, I thought it was the end!

I was really sad with how things seemed to end and then BAM! CLIFFHANGER!!!
